Old cartoon.

  • Aug. 20th, 2008 at 12:10 AM
They used to play this on TV when I was a kid. I don't think they play it anymore. I'm amazed I figured out how to find it, all I remembered were cute fuzzy animals, and some guy sinking into the mud.

Ok. I need to stop looking up old cartoons on youtube and go to bed. ;)

Cats... with lasers!

Does anyone here have a laser engraving machine? Or have any experience with them at all?

things and stuff and things.

glory glory hallelujah. yesterday we got a hot water heater put in, today i took a bath. amazing.

i don't think i mentioned it, but when we moved in here we were missing two important things- a toilet and a hot water heater. my father was awesome enough to get us a toilet the second day we lived here, and we've been without hot water until yesterday, when my aunt heard we had been taking showers over at my parents house due to lack of hot water at our own home. hooray!

Ham's doing well today, i think. he's more talkative, moves around much more, and isn't going to the bathroom every hour, which is a big improvement. he's been napping much more than usual, but i would be too after a weekend like he had. going to make his check-up appointment for tomorrow to see how things look, he won't be too happy with that.

still very stressed out, shaky, but not as bad as the other day. every day Ham acts a bit better, i can calm down a little more.

well... i've got to get ready for work.

that I had sex with Keith Olberman
and it was HOT.

Today

  • Aug. 18th, 2008 at 8:07 PM
Is sort of a melencholy day. Only left the house to go to the gym. No writing done so far (and, honestly, probably won't be). Nothing exciting to report, just a dirty house and an unfinished manuscript taking turns giving me awful looks. I think I might be a touch depressed, 'cause the thought of doing anything exausts me.

This weekend was nice, though. Ate sushi at Izumi's with Gideon and Elicia, then headed over to the Mudlounge and hung out till I needed to get home (hopefully soon I'll be able to hang out a full night with ya'all). Saturday was a nice low key Date Night. Bacon and tomato pizza at the Brew Co., Starbucks at the mall (where I got the most fantastic hat on sale), Barnes and Noble for magazines and the Mudlounge for desert. I think I bored Justin to tears, but I thought it was a nice evening.

SCA

  • Aug. 18th, 2008 at 3:15 PM
So people around here are starting up the SCA again. Our friends are really excited about it, but Greg and I are hestitant. We'd love to hang out with SCA-type people, since they usually tend to be interesting people. But the two of us are kind of lost when it comes to what WE would do in the SCA. Neither of us are very interested in history-type stuff.

Well I thought I wasn't interested, until it occured to me that I read and watch anything that has to do with the Black Death (and medieval torture, but I don't want to dress up as a torturer). That's history right? Of course it is!

So what would my SCA persona be then? Well, I thought back to one of my favorite books on the subject, which is a history of human epidemics. In that book is an illustration of a "Plague Doctor."

What's a Plague Doctor anywho? )

Awesome sauce.

Now to just figure out what Greg would be. He was thinking Leper. I dunno.

There's a lot of really awesome Plague Doctor pics in Google Image search.

Ham update.

  • Aug. 18th, 2008 at 7:45 AM
sorry guys, right now everything in my mind, most every thought, is centered around Ham. so here's the current Ham update-

going to talk a lot about cat pee... )

yesterday, everything finally hit me. i kept one step ahead of everything this weekend, and upon bringing Ham home, i had a panic attack and spent all day Sunday a nervous wreck. i'm doing better today, i just didn't realize how brave i was trying to be for Ham. now i am oh-so-tired and nervous, and my Rescue Remedy's about out. :(

have to keep up, though, Ham's not completely back to normal just yet! <3

sunny ukulele

since i got my ukulele sometime september 2006, it has always been a favorite musical companion of mine. i recently recorded my first ukulele song using GarageBand, where i added some midi organ and midi upright bass to liven it up a bit. just click on the link below to listen. hope y'all like it! :D

SUNNY UKULELE

btw, here i am rawkin' on a G7 chord:

went to see Ham when i got off work this afternoon... he's high as a kite on pain meds and is so funny right now. he was "talking" and doing "the bump-ah", where he hits you as hard as he can with his head. XD it was so wonderful to see him after how i saw him last night. he got to eat some tuna this morning and had flakes of tuna all over the e-collar. i can't wait until we get the call telling us to come get him. the catheter will be removed at seven tonight, and then there will be a wait to see if he goes pee by himself. i'm keeping my fingers crossed that he makes an impressive pee all by himself, and can come home.

we're going to go by the pet store in a bit to grab some nice canned food for him and Buu to munch on. i guess we're going to feed them can from here on out because i will NOT go through this again! they both also have to go on a diet, sadly, but i'll give Ham a few days to recoup before subjecting him to that new torture. restricted food supply?! how dare we.

this morning was amazing. Adam went by the emergency vet to get our estimate so we could make sure the right amount was in the bank. when they told Adam the cost, he was shocked. it was drastically lower than what we were quoted last night. we didn't have to use trip money at all!

so... i WILL be at MFM!

later on this afternoon, we'd receive a phone call from my aunt. there's a hot water heater that is on it's way to us, to be installed on Monday. hot water at last! we are so grateful right now... it's amazing. the past 24 hours did a 180 on me. absolutely amazing.

the only bad news i have is due to conflicting work schedules, i won't be making Black Mesa, but right now it's totally okay.

Ham! tonight! <3<3<3

prayers and good thoughts for the Hammah...

Ham is at the emergency vet, where he will be spending the night.

when we went to the vet earlier, his belly was very tender to the touch and he was given IV fluids. we were told to watch him, and if he didn't urinate by 6pm to immediately take him to the emergency vet. that's what we ended up having to do, and he was sedated, given a catheter and his bladder flushed out.

the blockage was small, and easily flushed. i was able to go up and see Ham after i got off work tonight, and i was in tears the whole time. he was coming out of the anesthesia, and was laying on his side with an e-collar on. he had an IV and the catheter... seeing him lying there like that, all those tubes... just hurt me so bad. i never wanted to see one of my babies like that, ever. i pet him for a little bit, told him i loved him and he was a brave boy. the vet tech told me that after the catheter was placed and the blockage flushed, he almost immediately started to produce clear urine, which was a great sign. as i pet him, he made quiet grumbly sounds, telling me that he was feeling like Ham again (who does not like to be bothered when sleepy!)

he's got to stay there 24 hours so they can monitor his urine output, and we should have him home tomorrow night. it's going to be hard to sleep knowing he's not here. :(

i will not be going to MFM now. we had to tap into our trip funds for this, and i'd much, much, much rather see Ham well and back to his old grumpy self then do the MFM thing this year. i'll try to make it next year, i hope. someone FedEx me some Corky's dry rub ribs, plz.

this summer is now officially fired. :) i am at the end of my very frayed mental/emotional rope.

Furrrr. Very thick. This will be a BITCHHHHH to cut/shave/sew. :

crap and crap and stuff.

i went from feeling fantastic a few days ago to being a trembling ball of nervousness today. i don't know why, i woke up like this, shaking and having that horrible sense of "something is going to go wrong today".

a few hours later, i see Ham attempting to pee in a corner. he never does this. i get up and go to him. he goes to the litter box, squats and after what seems like forever, gets up. nothing.

panic.

called the vet, made an appointment. it's a uti. has to be. he hasn't shown any signs until today, so i'm hoping (no, praying) that he's not blocked. oh christ this isn't helping the anxiety.

been trying to eat because i'm wondering if the shakiness is from that but the anxiety won't let me eat. the vet appointment is at 3:15. i go into work at 5. i'm not going to be able to relax all day.

if it gets too bad, i'll take something. the Rescue Remedy just isn't doing it today.
